Charlotte’s Web
Production Date: May 2022
Director: Raines Carr
Designer/ Technical Director: Connie Smith
Student Technical Director: Drake Miller
ATD/ Sound Engineer: Joshua Tetlow
Scenic Charge: Luci Sloan
For this production, I was assigned Student Technical Director. In this position, I was tasked with drafting the structure for the flying barn. The Designer/TD approved each plate. Once approved, the drawing made its way onto the shop floor to build. As Student TD, I was also tasked with gathering information and providing supply run list for lumber and other items. For the strike, I led my crew and actors assisting in the strike through the process. Throughout the build process, I was in constant communication with my team as we went through the building, painting, and installation process.

The importance of being earnest
Production Date: February 2022

ATD/ Sound Engineer: Joshua Tetlow
For this production, I was assigned Master Carpenter. I was tasked with checking the quality of the overall set and problem-solving as needed. One problem that was solved was how to easily move the large set while also giving support to weak points seen in the second photo to the right below. This problem was solved by hinging 2x4s that make contact on its sides. The hinges allowed the set to simply slide away and also allowed the set to be more easily reset for the next show day.

Director: Raines Carr
Built by Chipola Center for the Arts for Sam Shepard Festival 2021
This set was constructed of 2-inch foam insulation attached to and around Hollywood-style flats. Along with building, the set was delivered and reconstructed at Flager University in St. Augustine, Fl.

Winnie The Pooh Backson Trap
Designed/ Built By: Drake Miller
Constructed using a 4x4 metal frame and 1-foot platforms attached to left and right sides to gain desired width. On the left and right are 2x4s faced with luan acting as a track for smooth lower and raising of a hydraulic raise table. The plywood doors are beveled to allow easy sliding up and down. The trap is reset be a cable pulley system and the table is raised back to floor level acting as support when not lowered. Soap was used to lubricate the track and eliminate noise and friction.
Stop and watch this video of this stage trap in action.
